Sharing really fun and cute summer photoshoot ideas you can try with your kids this year! Making memories is the best; capturing those memories in a beautiful way is the cherry on top!

Summer Photoshoot Ideas
It’s summer break and the living is good. Summer is all about cook outs, exploring the outdoors, staying up late, making memories with friends and living in the water. All of the goodness of summer doesn’t need to be captured in photos but it sure is fun to try!
If you’re a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle you know just how rewarding it is to capture memories and have them to look back on. Time goes quickly when you have special kids in your life and it’s marked by how quickly they grow up.
That is the entire inspiration behind this blog post. I want to share some of the fun ways I’ve been able to capture summer memories and some of the ways I’ve seen others do it to. This way you can be inspired to capture fun, memorable and sweet shots of your special peeps.
These are fun summer photoshoot ideas to try with your kids.
Pool Time!
One of our favorite past times is warming up under the sun. I took this photo after being inspired by my close friend, The Soltrop Six Peg Dolls, take a similar one of her twins in the pool. Try to grab this shot from overhead but be sure to supply sunglasses! I promise it won’t work too well if your little one is looking directly into the sun.
You definitely do not need to coordinate the swimsuit with the float. Just let the magic happen on its own! I will say that Target has the cutest floats every year and they are typically around $5!
Here is another shot I absolutely love of my husband throwing my daughter into the air. It’s such a sweet memory of them together and it was so fun for us to try and get. I highly suggest also video taping this in slow motion. It’s a really fun one to watch back!
One more fun one at the pool from overhead. This is fun to take of all the kids lined up, just one kid or for mom to be in! I love the angle and it really pops on screen.
Find Us At The Beach
Okay, literally there are tons of photo’s you can take at the beach. TONS. In the water, in the sand, near the sand dunes, next to a palm tree, with seashells, on a beach towel and so on! The beach itself makes for a gorgeous backdrop. You just need to have fun making the memories.
The beach jump is a simple and super fun photo to get of your kids! Get them midair or capture the splash as their feet hit and water and sand!
Try capturing a shot of them with whatever makes your specific beach unique. For example, maybe there are huge sand dunes at your beach. Maybe there are rocks like we had below or oyster beds. Does the backdrop show a beautiful palm tree? Get that baby in there!
My kids also absolutely LOVE running into the water. I’ve been able to get a couple of super cute shots of the moments they finally get to feel the ocean water on their skin!
Summer Naps
Okay, this one only works for little kids but it is a must. There is just something about summer naps when the air conditioning is blasting after spending a day out in the hot summer sun that are so memorable. Even as an adult!
Grab a quick photo of your little ones sleeping away the summer day. We were able to get one of a beach nap with our littlest King.
Other Great Ideas
Here are a bunch more random photo’s I think you’ll enjoy.
First, I found this idea on Pinterest and thought it was amazing! I decided to try with my daughter and it turned out so cool! You need someone who is willing to give you directions on how to pose in the photography but it is totally doable with 3 people.
Next up, try some chalk art! The possibilities are endless when it comes to fun chalk art photos. Again, you’ll want to make sure you child has sunglasses so that the sun isn’t in their eyes when they lay down for the photo.
Lastly, just go with the flow of where you are! This is one of my favorite photos of my older 3 kids and it wasn’t planned at all. They were laying in the water, laughing and having fun so I popped over real quick and stole a photo of them. Above all else, be in the moment for these photos. Like I mentioned previously, the memories come first. Photographs are just an added bonus!
